How to choose a bicycle helmet:
1. Choose a bicycle-certified helmet. There are several standards for bicycle helmets, including many country-specific standards and internationally recognized
standards. In my country, the China Sporting Goods Industry Federation has issued safety standards for helmets for various sports activities (including bicycles,
skateboards, snowboards, equestrians, etc.).
2. Choose a suitable helmet. For the helmet to be effective, it must be suitable. The helmet should be tight enough to prevent it from falling off your head when it is
hit, while allowing comfort for long-term use.
3. Check whether the helmet is halfway to your forehead. If you fall forward, you want the helmet to hit the ground before your face. Don’t put the helmet behind your
head.
4. Try it on to make sure it fits. If you are unsure, ask for help. Proper fit is very important to ensure that the helmet is when you really need it.
5. Choose a helmet designed specifically for your event. There are many styles of helmets designed for different types of bicycles. Road bike helmets are very light,
while off-road helmets and mountain bike helmets may provide more protection, usually including goggles and safer straps to keep the helmet in the correct position
during extreme activities.
6. Choose a helmet that is comfortable enough to be worn throughout the ride. If you don’t wear a helmet, it won’t protect you. Check the chin straps to make sure they
can be tight enough to securely hold the helmet without having to dig holes in your chin or face. Ensure the comfort of the headband and/or padding.
